Then, after it's been loaded in, if it's asking you to place a family, you can just hit the escape key to get out of the command. All the contents of the Website shall be deemed to be protected and safeguarded by current provisions concerning copyright and intellectual and industrial property rights. Then you can click on Open to load those families into your project environment. That will select all of the families inside of that folder. I'm going to go to the Base Cabinets, and I'm not exactly sure which cabinets I'm going to use in this project, so I'm going to take the time and actually just load them all in, and to load it in multiple families, you can hold down the shift key on the keyboard, pick the first one, then pick the last one. You also have countertops that you can load in as well. ![]() ![]() If you select on Place Component, you'll notice underneath Properties, here's that table, Dining-Round with Chairs that we just loaded in, and also, over to the right-hand there's the option again to load a family from here, you can select on Load Family, and once again, I'm going to go back in to the folders, so Exercise Files, Chapter Four, and this time I'm going to go to the Casework folder, and we can see here that there's a variety of different kinds of casework that we can load into this project, and it's not just base cabinets and any sort of shelving units. The other way that we can load in families is to go to one of the main categories, whether it be Architecture, Structure, or Systems, typically it will be Architecture, then select on whatever kind of family that it is, like door, window, column, but if it doesn't really seem to fit into any of those typical categories, it'll probably be a component family. To load in a furniture family, you can just open up the Furniture folder, go to Tables, then, for this exercise, just select on Table-Dining Round with Chairs, then click on Open, and that'll load in that particular Revit family. Also, I've included a couple of families folders inside of the exercise files, Chapter Four folder, including casework and furniture families. From here, you can go into any of the folders and then pick the appropriate families out of that folder. That'll open up the Load Family dialog box, and from there, you should be taken to the default location where most of your Revit families are located at. The first way is to go to the Insert tab and then select on Load Family. There are two primary ways to load a family into Revit. ![]()
